High School Programs
Many students experience bullying and a lack of belonging in schools. This hurts efforts to close the achievement gap because some students are unwilling to fully participate in class or come to school altogether. Isolation caused by Covid-19 has added to students’ challenges with few opportunities for them to be heard.
Candidly Speaking’s High School Program, uses guided questioning and active listening techniques to help students communicate with each other in ways that foster understanding and build community. Additionally, Candidly Speaking incorporates key skills from the Common Core Standard for Speaking and Listening.
Candidly Speaking can help bridge the gap between students who have separated themselves into social groups that rarely interact. It is also one way to increase understanding and empathy among a diverse student body. The Candidly Speaking Program creates a safe place for students to talk about their own experiences in school and the wider world and to learn about each other.
